Applications

Fitting low-absorption tiles and stoneware paving (group I absorption ≤3%), for interiors and exteriors, on mortar finishes, concrete block, fibre-cement, artificial stone, concrete floors, Arliblock, etc. Particularly suitable for facing exterior walls (surfaces <900 cm² or <40 kg in weight), fitting large-sized stoneware tiles (max. 40x60), applying heavy-traffic paving (e.g. hospitals, hypermarkets), old stoneware paving, radiant heating paving and cold stores.

Performance

The approximate yield of Argocola Elite 500 is 3.5–4 kg/m² when applied in a single coat.

Presentation

25 kg sacks (1000 kg pallet).

Storage

In the original container in a covered area, for up to 12 months.

Support

The support should be resistant, flat (max. tolerance 3 mm measured with a 1 m rule), with a certain amount of absorption, completely set and if possible rough and free of dust, paintwork, oil, etc.
The humidity of the support should be <3%, so leave the plasterwork to dry for at least three weeks before using. If exposed to direct sunlight or highly absorbent, wetting is advisable first.

Instructions for use

1. Mix mechanically with clean water until an even, plastic mixture is achieved, without any lumps, using 25% water (approx. 6.25 l/sack).
2. Leave the mixture to stand for 10 minutes and then remix before applying.
3. Spread the paste onto the support in small sections (1–2 m²) and comb with a 6x6 (for tiles <450 cm2) or 8x8 (for tiles 450–900 cm2) toothed mortarboard. For sizes <900 cm²) use two coats of adhesive.
4. Lay the ceramic tiles by pressing them onto the support until the grooves are flattened, ensuring that the glue is still plastic and has not formed a surface film that will hinder adhesion.

Recommendations

When using it is essentials for the tiles to be fixed firmly, with no gaps between the tile and the support.
For large-sized tiles (>30x30 cm) or otherwise heavy tiles, use two coats of adhesive, spreading a fine coat of Argocola Elite 500 on the reverse side (max. weight 40 kg/m² and max. size 40x60x1.5 cm).
Make fitting joints between tiles of at least 2 mm for wall tiles and 5 mm for floor tiles and exteriors, fitting dilation joints every 30 m² max. (small-sized tiles) or 60 m² max. (large-sized tiles), fitting perimeter joints and respecting the building’s structural joints.
Do not use in places where pools of water could accumulate.
On floors with radiant heating, switch off 24 hours before laying.
When applying, clean off any remains of the product using a wet sponge as you work.
Apply two coats of adhesive if the tiles are larger than 1000 cm² in size. When the difference in absorption between the support and the tile is very large (absorbent supports).
The double-coat technique is advisable when cladding exterior walls.
